The Meyer lab works on neurodegenerative and neurological disorders affecting both children and adults. We are particularly interested in the interaction between different cell types of the nervous system and how different cell types participate to the disease progression. In order to study these cells, we make use of new and fast reprogramming methods to generate astrocytes, oligodendrocytes and neurons from patient derived skin biopsies. Moreover, the laboratory has a strong translational aspect using gene therapy approaches to treat these diseases and also to address unanswered questions in the field of gene therapy.
