My research focus is to study and evaluate a new target in Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL), a type of blood cancer. The target that I am studying was recently found to be upregulated on the surface of CLL cells only, and not normal cells. My aim is to explore the function of this target in the context of B cell receptor (BCR) signaling (a key signaling pathway in normal B cells), as well as cell migration. BCR inhibitors are already in clinic for the treatment of CLL. However, some patients develop resistance to it. Thus, identifying and investigating the role of this novel target will be beneficial in the development of a novel BCR inhibitor that will help patients who develop resistance to current therapies.  In addition, we aim to develop a novel mouse model that overexpresses this target and consequently evaluate various therapeutic strategies like bispecific antibodies to target it.
