Join us for MLS Seminar featuring Dr. Chunyue Yin, Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Cincinnati! The title of her talk is Decoding Liver Metabolism through Rare Disease Genetics.
The long-term goal of the Yin Lab is to uncover the mechanisms driving liver development, homeostasis, and disease etiology. They combine genetic tools and in vitro and in vivo experimental models to explore fundamental questions in liver biology.
Their current focus is on inherited chronic intrahepatic cholestasis, with two primary research goals:
- Understanding how known gene mutations cause cholestasis, using zebrafish and mouse models.
- Discovering new disease-causing genes to improve diagnosis and enable personalized treatment strategies.
They work closely with clinicians, geneticists, and pathologists to identify novel genetic variants causing inherited chronic cholestasis. Through in vitro cell line models and pre-clinical animal models, they validate these variants, investigate disease mechanisms, and develop targeted therapeutic approaches.
