Ohio State is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with the law. While this work occurs, language referencing protected class status or other activities prohibited by Ohio Senate Bill 1 may still appear in some places. However, all programs and activities are being administered in compliance with federal and state law.

Daniel Conway is a Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the Ohio State University and a member of the Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center. The Conway research group studies how mechanical forces regulate cellular and tissue homeostasis, with a focus on epithelial cell biology. As part of this research, we develop fluorescent-based biosensors to directly measure mechanical forces across specific proteins. Current cell mechanics projects include understanding how mechanical forces at cell-cell adhesions (adherens junctions and desmosomes), the nuclear LINC complex (nesprin, SUN, and lamin proteins), as well as the cytoskeleton, regulate fundamental biological processes.
