Megan S Keiser, PhD is a new Assistant Professor at OSU in the department of Neurological Surgery and the Neurotech Institute. Dr. Keiser earned her PhD in Molecular Neuroscience from the University of Iowa and has extensive experience in novel translational gene therapies for recessive neurodevelopmental diseases and late-onset neurodegenerative diseases as well as visual and auditory deficits. Current research program has two arms: one using viral vectors as a vehicle for optogenetics, the other is using nonviral delivery of therapeutic agents to models of inflammation, in the form of engineered extracellular vesicles. Traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, senescence and aging, PTSD, and Alzheimer's are all areas of inflammation to be explored. Dr. Keiser is also excited to explore the field of implantable neuro-devices to assist patients afflicted with paresis, paralysis, and movement disorders
