Ohio State is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with the law. While this work occurs, language referencing protected class status or other activities prohibited by Ohio Senate Bill 1 may still appear in some places. However, all programs and activities are being administered in compliance with federal and state law.

I am a pediatric neurosurgeon and a Principal Investigator at the Nationwide Children's Hospital Institute of Genomic Medicine. My research laboratory focuses on developmental biology of the pediatric brain with the goal of developing novel treatments for pediatric brain tumors and vascular malformations. My clinical and research interests are primarily focused on the interplay of developmental biology and cancer biology, with an emphasis on epigenetics of brain tumors such as diffuse midline gliomas and meningiomas. My current pursuits include analysis of the cellular diversity of brain tumors using single cell gene expression studies and a longitudinal investigation of the effects of radiation on the growing pediatric brain. In hopes of better understanding the unique characteristics of the pediatric brain that cause susceptibility to tumors, my laboratory has undertaken an effort to build a Human Developmental Brain Atlas (HD-BAT) to map the enhancer profiles, single cell gene expression and chromatin accessibility, and spatial transcriptomics of the developing human hindbrain. Ultimately, I seek to develop novel therapies for the treatment of pediatric brain tumors and vascular malformations.
