Research led by one of MCDB’s faculty, Shan-Lu Liu, demonstrates the important role of one protein in allowing HIV to flourish within human cells despite the immune system’s efforts to beat it back.
The study, published in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, provides more information about the role of a protein called Nef in HIV infection.
